Get bewitched.
BY STEPHANIE VALENTE
There’s a delicious brand tailored for all of you darklings out there: The Vampire’s Wife. Picture this: dresses that look like poetry and ethereal dreams. With immense flared skirts, fitted bodices, playful frills, moody jewel tones, and hypnotizing necklines, it’s bewitching.

It’s no surprise that the genius behind The Vampire’s Wife is Susie Cave (nee Bick), an enigmatic model and actress. You might recognize Susie Cave – she’s been on the cover of famous albums like the Damned’s Phantasmagoria and she’s also married to Nick Cave. It’s as if Cave herself was destined to make such upbeat-meets-macabre designs.

With such a drowsy-dreamy atmosphere to the structured pieces, the clothes are spell-binding, if not erotic. The floral print blazer is enchanting, slightly boyish, and commanding – all the more perfect to dance in the moonlight to. Or, purr beside your lover(s). The vibes are bright, eclectic, and romantic. Cave dished on her aesthetic in a Vogue interview: "...comes from a great love of costume, Russian ballet, children’s books, raw nature, art, movies, architecture, all manner of things, really."

When I look at these garments, I picture somewhere else. Some other time, perhaps...perhaps these glorious dresses transport you to another time or space. Rolling hills, castles, poetry, and a secret lover with very, very sharp teeth. It’s romantic, gorgeous, and a little bit forbidden. This is what I imagine wearing one of these dresses feels like.

It feels like love, lust, sex, and death. It feels like wandering the night and returning home and lighting candles and writing until your fingers cramp and your pens dried up. And you look at the pages, and they’re full of your love affairs and heat and you can’t forget it. Handwritten letters with lines crossed out. Longing. Waiting.

But really, what these dresses are about is the power within you. The bewitching beauty. The spell-binding queen. The dark priestess. A magician. An enchantress. You’re not just the vampire’s wife. You’re more.
